Rawlins County commissioners approve Plan A, county to cover 2025 employee premiums

RAWLINS COUNTY, Kan. — The Rawlins County Board of Commissioners voted Dec. 9 to offer “Plan A” for the county’s 2025 insurance program and to cover the full cost of employee premiums for the coming year.
Commissioner Mark Mosley moved to offer Plan A and to have the county pay all employee premiums for 2025; Commissioner Alan A. Solko seconded the motion and it carried, the minutes show. The action followed discussion among the commissioners, County Clerk Rachel Finley and county employees about available plans and premium levels.
Commissioner Solko then moved that new hires be required to pay any premium amounts exceeding a $2,000.00 cap during their first six months of employment. Mosley seconded that motion, which also carried. The meeting began at 8:30 a.m. and adjourned at 9:04 a.m.
The decisions recorded do not include a detailed vote tally by member; the minutes note each motion was seconded and “motion carried.” The county did not specify projected cost to the budget or whether the coverage decision is subject to later budget amendment or formal contract changes.
