County updates on Youth Investment camps, Drug Court and grant amendment

County officials on Jan. 7 described plans to expand Youth Investment programming and reported progress in the adult Drug Court program.
Youth Investment Coordinator Keli Hall presented a handout proposing use of Camp Cottonwood for Youth Investment camps and said organizers would contract catering for meals because the camp kitchen needs repair. Community Corrections Director Jake Greer said Youth Investment is pursuing nonprofit status to access grant funds that government entities cannot receive and expressed a preference to keep program operations county-run rather than partnering with another local nonprofit.
Parole and Probation Officer Lili Frank told the board the Drug Court program "was going strong" with about 13–14 participants. Director Greer said funding opportunities could support a DUII Court in Lake County and noted planned cooperation with District Attorney Charas, who previously supported the program at its 2015 start.
Greer also reported Amendment #1 to Grant Agreement SCP-23-29 would add $18,000 back into current funding; the minutes record that Action/Consideration on the amendment would occur in the Regular Session.
