Rawlins County commissioners approve equipment purchases and routine business

The Rawlins County Board of Commissioners approved a set of routine and operational actions at its Dec. 16 meeting, including equipment repairs, a small building repair contract and replacements for emergency radios.
Commissioners voted to approve a clutch kit installation on a Road & Bridge tractor to be performed by John Deere in Oberlin after Road & Bridge lead Mark Loop reported the clutch had failed. The board also accepted a single bid of $439.68 from Jim Reeves to repair the roof at the Good Sam.
Chris Niermeier of RFD#2 reviewed quotes from Motorola and Sunny Communications for handheld radio replacements; commissioners approved a $23,700 quote from Sunny Communications to be paid from the RFD#2 Equipment Fund. Niermeier said the department would pursue a grant for matching funds.
The board approved minutes from Nov. 27 and Dec. 9, 2024; approved and signed abatements and additions from county offices; and signed the Atwood Rawlins County Airport Minimum Standards for Commercial Aeronautical Activities.
Commissioner Lincoln Pochop called the meeting to order at 9:01 a.m.; the meeting adjourned at 10:23 a.m. County offices will observe holiday closures Dec. 23โ25 and Jan. 1, and will close at noon Dec. 31; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Dec. 31, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. and for Jan. 13, 2025 at 9:00 a.m.
