Rawlins County adopts Vision Care Direct Plus and Delta Dental amid employee cost concerns

At their Nov. 14 meeting, the Rawlins County Board of Commissioners approved Vision Care Direct Plus for vision coverage and later selected Delta Dental for dental coverage.
Commissioner Alan A. Solko moved to select Vision Care Direct Plus; Commissioner Mark Mosley seconded and the motion carried. Separately, Solko moved to select Delta Dental for dental coverage; Mosley seconded and the motion also carried.
County Clerk Rachel Finley told the board that the proposed vision plan appeared likely to cost employees more out of pocket; she said she would run cost comparisons and provide additional numbers. The board also asked Finley to check with the county auditor on which bank to use for reserve funds. The commissioners reviewed holiday and pay-period information and concluded Juneteenth did not need to be added as a paid holiday at this time.
The board approved both insurance options by motion; specific premium or employee-cost figures were not recorded in the meeting transcript and were left for staff to quantify.
