Commissioners rescind APAC gravel purchase, approve one load of millings and review guardrail posts

The Rawlins County Board of Commissioners on Sept. 30 rescinded a prior motion to purchase gravel from APAC after Road and Bridge staff reported the APAC material was washed gravel and unsuitable for current needs. Commissioner Lincoln Pochop moved to rescind the prior motion; Commissioner Alan A. Solko seconded and the motion carried.
Mark Loop of Road and Bridge told the board the HRRR project is in planning, crews are mowing and blading, and there have been occasional public requests to rock roads. Loop also said steel posts used on Beardsley Road to mount a guardrail should be removed where they are not serving a useful purpose.
Separately, Corey Castens in Landfill and Recycling said two loads of millings had not been sufficient and requested one additional load. Commissioner Alan A. Solko moved to purchase one load of millings; Commissioner Lincoln Pochop seconded, and the motion carried.
Castens also stated he is household hazardous waste (HHW) certified and is coordinating with Charles Peckham to schedule a household hazardous waste day.
The board handled these purchasing and maintenance matters by recorded motions during its regular meeting; no appeals or public objections were recorded in the meeting transcript.
