Board approves consent agenda, authorizes hearings and advances routine business

The Board approved the consent agenda, adopted a proclamation marking American Red Cross Month, authorized public hearings to align election deadlines and for the secondary six-year road plan, approved a CHA Phase I well evaluation and confirmed other routine administrative actions.
At its March 11 meeting the Nelson County Board of Supervisors handled multiple routine and administrative items by unanimous votes.
The consent agenda was approved by acclamation (4–0) and included Resolution R2025-12 (approval of September 19, 2024 minutes), R2025-13 (FY25 budget amendment), and R2025-14 (support for submission of a Creative Communities Partnership grant with a $4,500 local match). The Board adopted Proclamation P2025-01 declaring March 2025 as American Red Cross Month.
The Board authorized a public hearing to align County Code filing deadlines with state law (Resolution R2025-17) and adopted Resolution R2025-15 to authorize a public hearing on the FY26–FY31 Secondary Six-Year Road Plan. The Board also approved the CHA Phase I well-evaluation proposal for the Larkin Phase 1 site ($18,000) with an additional $6,000 for local pricing coordination; that action passed unanimously on a motion by Supervisor Rutherford and second by Supervisor Parr.
Supervisors convened a closed session under Va. Code §2.2-3711(A)(7) to consult with counsel on Region 2000 Services Authority litigation and, upon reconvening, certified the closed session by unanimous roll call. The Board adjourned the afternoon session and reconvened at 7:00 p.m. for the school bond public hearing and subsequent vote.
