Board awards $2,000 grant to Lovingston Beautification Committee

The Nelson County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a $2,000 grant request from the Lovingston Beautification Committee on July 8.
Gail Bastarache, speaking for the Committee, thanked the Board for a prior 2024 grant and described recent investments: enriched soil for 13 planters, seasonal flowers across three seasons, reusable seasonal decorations and maintenance of bench plantings in the town center. The Committee reported about $400 remaining in its fund and requested $2,000 to continue planting, replace plastic decorations with painted wooden pieces and seal barrel planters to protect them from the elements.
Supervisor Jesse N. Rutherford moved approval; Supervisor J. David Parr seconded. The Board approved the grant 4–0 and staff recommended the committee submit an annual budget request as part of the FY process for consideration as ongoing support.
