Chief Raymond Cook explained the department had put $24,000 toward the truck and that the County previously covered significant chassis costs; with the requested $34,000 the department could complete payment. Cook said he expects to repay the loan in about three years but may pay it off sooner depending on revenues. He also reported insurance‑supported re‑chassising work that will return a nearly new attack truck to service.
The Board approved the loan on unanimous roll call (3–0). Cook noted longer‑term plans for a response building in Schuyler to improve tanker coverage in areas without hydrants and said tanker support across county departments remains strong.
Resolution language indicates the loan will assist Faber Volunteer Fire Department’s purchase of the specified tanker and is consistent with prior Emergency Services Council discussion.
