Commissioners approve personnel actions, authorize recruitment for assistant public defender; treasurer announces tax forums

During the Feb. 3, 2025 regular session, Erie County Commissioners approved several personnel items and a recruitment request. The board approved a Personnel Action Form recording the retirement of Lori Yancy, Records Specialist, effective Feb. 28, 2025, and accepted the resignation of Elizabeth Jones, part-time STNA, effective Jan. 24, 2025.
The board also approved a Request for Recruitment for the Public Defender’s Office for an Assistant Public Defender (misdemeanor criminal) position. The amended Commission meeting minutes from Jan. 8, 2025 were approved on a motion by Mr. Shoffner with a second from Mr. Old; the minutes included a note that President Shenigo was recorded as present although he had not attended that earlier meeting.
In the public comment portion, Treasurer Caleb Stidham thanked Commissioners Shoffner and Old for attending a recent property tax forum and announced two upcoming public forums: Feb. 3 from 5:30–7:00 p.m. at the downtown Office Building and Feb. 7 from 1:30–3:00 p.m. at the Huron Public Library. The board adjourned at 9:45 a.m. on a motion by Mr. Old, seconded by Mr. Shoffner.
