Erie County Commissioners cancel March meetings, reject bid and approve multiple resolutions

The Erie County Commissioners on Feb. 19 voted unanimously on a slate of routine and business items, canceling multiple March commission meetings; rejecting all bids for the Lead Service Line Replacement Project for the Department of Operations and Environmental Services (DOES) because the low bid exceeded the project’s 20% estimate allowance; and adopting a series of resolutions and administrative approvals.
On motions by Commissioner Shoffner, seconded by Commissioner Old (roll call: President Shenigo, Commissioner Shoffner, Commissioner Old — all aye), the board: canceled specified March 2025 commission meetings; adopted resolution #25-43 to enter into an agreement with Thomas M. Dusza to provide Title IV-D child support enforcement hearing officer services for ECDJFS; declared surplus certain county items (#25-44); and confirmed inter-county juvenile detention service agreements with Ashland, Huron, Ottawa and Holmes counties (#25-45 through #25-48).
The board also authorized payment for services to Tandem Media Network (#25-49), executed Then and Now Certification under O.R.C. 5705.41(d)(1) and authorized drawing warrants in payment (#25-50), approved supplemental appropriations across several funds (#25-51), and entered into a biennial agreement with the State of Ohio, Department of Transportation for SFYs 2026–2027 (#25-52). The record notes revised auditor certificates and supplemental contract amounts for multiple vendors, including Medical Mutual Services LLC (+$160,000 for stop-loss insurance) and other contract adjustments; the board also executed Radiological Emergency Response Procedures for EMA regarding Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, approved personnel actions and travel authorizations, and received departmental and engineering reports.
