Purchasing Coordinator Emily Galloway opened the sealed bids and read proposals from six firms. AE of Ohio submitted the lowest base bid at $515,000. Other base bids included Securitas Technology Corp. ($559,885), Security Automation Systems ($566,190), Black Creek Integrated Systems Corp. ($816,252) and Montgomery Technology Systems, LLC ($862,800). The agenda packet listed a county estimate of $672,000. Several bidders submitted higher alternate pricing.
On a motion from Mr. Old, seconded by Mr. Shoffner, the board voted to receive the bids and refer them for further review; roll call was recorded as all aye.
The board did not take a procurement decision at the meeting; staff were directed to review technical specifications, ensure compliance with bidding rules, and return with a recommendation. The commissioners did not discuss funding sources or a construction timeline during the March 10 session.
Next steps: the sheriff’s office, facilities and purchasing staff will evaluate the bids and present findings and a recommendation to the board in a future meeting.
