Erie County opens bids for 2025 microsurfacing and chip-seal programs, refers packages to engineer

Dodrill presented bids for the 2025 Microsurfacing Program on township roads that included Erie Blacktop, Inc. at $1,289,321.83 and Precision Paving, Inc. at $1,450,087.17; the county estimate was listed as $1,353,000.00. For chip seal work on township roads, Runway Incorporated bid $139,506.20, Erie Blacktop bid $158,069.20 and Unilliance Inc. bid $171,021.76 against an estimate of $170,000.00. A separate bid for microsurfacing on county roads from Strawser Construction Inc. was $915,894.98 (estimate $883,000.00).
On a motion by Commissioner Old, seconded by Commissioner Shoffner, the Board "received bids for Microsurfacing, Resurfacing Program and Chip Seal and referred same to County Engineer for review and recommendation back to the Board; Roll Call: All Aye." The county will now await the engineer's evaluation of compliance with bid specifications and a recommendation for award or rejection.
The bids and the engineer's forthcoming recommendations will determine whether the county awards contracts this construction season, and any award will be formally posted in future meeting records.
