Summary
The board canceled a string of March meetings and rescheduled the Sanford Ditch hearing; it reappointed Mark Harrington to the Board of Developmental Disabilities, approved multiple personnel actions and travel requests, and registered no objections to two liquor-license matters.
At its Feb. 11 meeting the Erie County Commissioners voted to cancel a schedule of March meetings and to reschedule the Sanford Ditch hearing from Feb. 18 to March 5. On motions by Mr. Shoffner with seconds from Mr. Old, both votes passed by roll call (both aye).
Also during the meeting the board reappointed Mark Harrington to the Erie County Board of Developmental Disabilities for a third four-year term ending Dec. 31, 2029. The commissioners approved the Jan. 22 and Jan. 28 meeting minutes and executed a proclamation designating Feb. 11, 2026 as Thomas Edison Day in Erie County.
The board approved a range of personnel actions across departments: a longevity increase for Alicia Stefano (Administrative Assistant, Commissioners Office); the retirement of Jackie Yost (Archivist, Records Administrator) effective Feb. 27, 2026; new hires for the Erie County Department of Job and Family Services (Jaycee Mitchell and Christie Foy); staffing changes and recruitment for The Meadows at Osborn Park (including a resignation and a rate increase); and a maintenance resignation in DOES. The board also approved a floor-scrubber purchase for The Meadows for $13,764 and a recruitment request for a Deputy Clerk in the Clerk of Courts office.
Commissioners indicated no objection to transferring a liquor license to Country Breeze Carry Out in Vermilion Township and to issuing a license to Cranberry Creek Marina in Berlin Township. The meeting also included routine travel approvals for staff and receipt of various departmental reports. Later the board recessed into an executive session under O.R.C. 121.22(G)(4) for an overview of negotiations with JFS public employees, then reconvened and adjourned.
