Charlotte County approves $5.138 million state appropriation for Virtual Virginia program

The Charlotte County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a $5,138,000 amendment and appropriation to the FY2024–25 consolidated budget to accept state funds for Virtual Virginia.
County Administrator Daniel N. Witt told the board the schools requested the amendment and appropriation after receiving additional Virtual Virginia funds. Witt said the funds are state-provided and “none of this would affect local funds.” After a public hearing drew no in-person or written comments, Supervisor Noah Davis moved to appropriate the funds and Supervisor Derek Toombs seconded; the motion carried with all supervisors voting aye.
The board assigned the $5,138,000 to Fund 39 (Virtual Virginia — Charlotte County Schools, fiscal agent) to be spent on the LMS and related services specified in the schools’ request. The packet materials referenced by Witt appear on page 16 of the board’s October meeting packet.
Board members did not request additional changes to the appropriation during the meeting. The action was recorded in the board’s minutes as an amendment to the consolidated budget for FY2024–25.
