Safety Director Scharschmidt told the Parma Heights City Council on Feb. 12 that police responded to a report of shots fired and a large fight at the Twin Lakes apartment building on Pearl Road at about 11:05 p.m. last Thursday.
According to Scharschmidt’s report, officers from Parma and Parma Heights established a perimeter and deployed a drone; officers detained 11 of an estimated 14 males involved. Two injured males were taken to Metro Hospital for treatment, and three weapons were recovered while one weapon remained missing. Scharschmidt said the incident remains an active investigation.
The safety update came during routine director reports and drew no public comment at the meeting. No additional suspect names, charges or an investigative timeline were provided at the council meeting; Scharschmidt’s account is the city’s update to elected officials and is subject to further verification by investigative units.
Council did not take formal action on the incident during the meeting. Residents with safety concerns were not recorded as speaking during public comment; council recessed to executive session later in the evening for personnel matters unrelated to the reported incident.
