Mayor: Denison Blvd. design begins; Nathan Hale park opening set April 17 with camera monitoring

Mayor Mike Gallo told Parma Heights City Council on April 8 that the city received a Community Development Supplemental Grant from Cuyahoga County to begin design work on Denison Boulevard.
Gallo said phase one of the Cassidy Theatre upgrades — including the lobby and decking — is complete and that phase two will include a unisex restroom and improved main-level restrooms adjacent to the lobby. He also announced that Nathan Hale park is scheduled to open to residents April 17 at 2 p.m.; restrooms will be open seasonally, and the city will deploy Flock cameras at the entrance and other security cameras in the park because the site includes a retention basin that holds water year‑round.
Councilwoman DeSouza asked who would monitor the cameras; Safety Director Scharschmidt said dispatch, the Service Department and the Police Department will all have access and be involved in monitoring. "They are up and I think they look great," Scharschmidt added about the new department signage. The mayor also noted the streets rating list will be available soon.
The mayor presented a slate of Charter Review Commission nominees; Council President Rounds asked for objections and, hearing none, the council gave its advice and consent for the appointments.
