Burleson County adopts FY2026 budget and sets property tax rate at 0.44785

The Burleson County Commissioners Court voted unanimously Sept. 8 to adopt the county—Y2026 budget and to set the 2025 county property tax rate at 0.44785.
Commissioner David Hildebrand moved to adopt the FY2026 budget; Commissioner Dwayne Faust seconded the motion. Commissioners Faust, Vincent Svec, Hildebrand, Robert "Bobby" Urbanosky and County Judge Keith Schroeder voted Aye on the record and the motion carried.
In a separate recorded vote the court set the county'025 property tax rate at 0.44785 per $100 of assessed value. The rate was announced as comprising a maintenance and operations (M&O) component of $0.36638, interest and sinking (I&S) of $0.00647 and a farm-to-market (FM) road component of $0.07500. Commissioner David Hildebrand made the motion; Commissioner Vincent Svec seconded it, and the measure passed with all members voting Aye.
The court held public hearings on both the FY2026 proposed budget and on elected county and precinct officers—ompensation and allowances before the votes were taken; the transcript records the hearings but does not record public testimony.
Also on the agenda, the court approved FY2026 salary orders for district-court employees, including County Auditor Jimmy Mynar and court reporters Holly Schulz and Gracie Harmon, each listed at an annual salary of $19,468.80 in the order.
County Judge Keith Schroeder noted administrative items including a First Responders recognition at Strickland Funeral Home on Sept. 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the county Christmas party scheduled for Dec. 18, 2025. The county auditor told the court that outside auditors expect to deliver a draft audit to the auditor—y the end of the week.
The court authorized payment of bills before adjourning.
