Brewster County commissioners accepted multiple routine financial items during their July 23 meeting, approving the county's monthly reports, general bills and line-item transfers.
County Treasurer Julie Morton presented the June 2024 monthly report; Commissioner Ruben Ortega moved to approve the report and Commissioner Sara Colando seconded. The court approved the monthly report by a 4-0 vote.
Assistant Auditor Paty Saenz presented general bills and walk-ins. The court voted to approve the presented bills; the transcript records two abstentions tied to potential conflicts: Commissioner Ruben Ortega abstained from the vote on Pinnacle Propane, and Commissioner Jim Westermann abstained from the vote on Branding West. Saenz then presented line-item transfers; Commissioner Colando moved and Commissioner Ortega seconded the transfers, which passed 4-0.
The court also approved the Official Financial Report later in the meeting by a 4-0 vote. Judge Henington noted that the Financial Team meets every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., and a Budget Workshop is scheduled for July 30.
