The Board read resolutions reappointing Luke Harris and Christopher Otto to three‑year terms ending May 1, 2023. During discussion, Board member Mike Parkinson said the fire department and firefighters were "very unhappy" about a change in leadership and urged colleagues "to not vote for these people." The remarks referenced communications the county had received alleging that the appointees had "spearheaded" efforts that removed prior long‑serving members and raised certification concerns.
Other board members defended the nominees’ qualifications. Jamie Goggin said he would vote yes; Chris Guy likewise supported the appointments. Chair Kurt Prenzler moved consideration of both reappointments together and the Board proceeded to a roll‑call vote. The motion carried with 14 ayes and 11 nays.
