Parmer County commissioners approve subdivision plat, contracts, payroll and other routine business

The Parmer County Commissioner’s Court met in regular session in Farwell on March 11, 2024, and approved multiple routine administrative items, including a three-lot plat for the Flores family and several financial and operational items.
County Judge Isabel "Izzy" Carrasco opened the session and presided over votes that included approval of the Flores subdivision plat. Chad Lydick presented the plat, and Commissioner Kirk Frye moved to approve it; Commissioner Charles Wilkins seconded the motion, which passed by majority vote.
The Court approved minutes from the Feb. 26, 2024 meeting after a motion by Commissioner Frye and a second from Commissioner Wilkins. Treasurer Sharon May presented the accounts-payable lists for March 4 and March 11; Judge Carrasco moved to approve payment as presented, Commissioner Wilkins seconded, and the motion carried by majority vote. Commissioner Frye moved, and Commissioner Wilkins seconded, approval of the Treasurer’s payroll report for Feb. 29, 2024.
Judge Carrasco presented a one-year renewal with Eric Chadwick Landscaping to provide lawn service for the sheriff’s office and courthouse. Commissioners discussed potentially soliciting competitive bids before the 2025 budget year; Judge Carrasco noted the contract includes a cancellation clause. The Court approved the renewal on a motion by Judge Carrasco, seconded by Commissioner Frye.
An application from Tyler Hough requesting placement of a water line one-half mile south of CR E and CR 22 was presented and approved on a motion from Judge Carrasco and a second from Commissioner Frye.
The Court accepted continuing education hours submitted for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3, after a motion by Commissioner Frye and a second by Commissioner Wilkins.
