The Reeves County Groundwater Conservation District on July 17 unanimously approved Drilling Permit RC6426 and Production Permit RC3235 for Well RC3427, an application filed by Ashley Giesbrecht Farms that requests up to 4,098 acre-feet per year (maximum) and 600 gallons per minute for irrigation and oil-and-gas rig and fracking supply.
President Benjamin Burnham opened a public hearing on the permit application at 5:17 p.m.; no members of the public spoke and the hearing closed at 5:20 p.m. The board then voted 6-0 to approve the drilling and production permits after a motion by Luke Brown and a second from Cecil Lee.
The permit application lists the well as being on 683 acres at AB 1140 BLK 13 SEC 250 H&GN, located about 2.48 miles northeast of the intersection of County Road 112 and Highway 17 in Reeves County, Texas. The district’s records show the requested uses as irrigation and supply to oil-and-gas rig operations, including fracking support.
The board’s approval followed no substantive public comment during the hearing. James Beach, appearing via Zoom, and General Manager Greg Perrin were present during the discussion; no conditions or amendments to the permit were noted in the meeting minutes.
