Reeves County groundwater board approves drilling and production permits for Town of Pecos City well field

Each permit application listed a 1,650-acre allocation and requested 3,387.32 acre-feet per year of production and pumps of 150 gallons per minute for public water supply use.
At a public hearing the district opened for the Town's applications, no members of the public spoke in opposition. City Manager Charles Leno said the proposed well field “will be west of 285 in a new well field,” and the district proceeded to consider and approve the package of permits on a motion by Nancy Martinez, seconded by Cecil Lee.
The applications were presented to the board by Jake Steen, associate attorney with Lloyd Gosselink Rochelle & Townsend, P.C., who introduced the Town’s technical team, including Dr. Ken Rainwater (professional engineer), Raymond Straub, PG (Straub Corporation), and Chad Tompkins (WTC Engineering and Surveying). Kelvin Ridgley, Public Works Director for the Town of Pecos City, and City Manager Charles Leno also attended.
The approvals allow the Town to proceed with plans described in the permit applications; the permits specify the requested acreages, production volumes and pump rates but do not set a timetable for construction or operation. The board recorded the approvals without further discussion and with a unanimous vote.
