Parmer County tables $96,356 body-camera contract and other Sheriff's Office requests

Sheriff Eric Geske told the Parmer County Commissioners Court on July 8 that the Sheriff's Office needs new body cameras and other equipment and that the Parmer County Jail is currently housing 23 inmates.
Geske presented an estimated five-year contract price of $96,356 from Motorola Solutions to replace outdated body cameras. He also proposed trading a Chevrolet Traverse with a reported trade-in value of about $15,000 toward a new vehicle, but said available replacement options he had seen exceeded $50,000. Geske reported that the county's current jail medical contract is expected to increase in cost for the coming year and said he planned to contact nearby counties about their arrangements.
Judge Isabel Izzy Carrasco moved to table the Motorola body-camera contract until the County Attorney could review the contract; Commissioner Kenny White seconded and the motion passed by majority. Carrasco also moved to table the proposed vehicle purchase until the Sheriff could obtain additional bids; Commissioner Casey Russell seconded and the motion passed. The Sheriff's request to revisit the jail medical contract was likewise tabled so Geske could return with more precise contract options and exact pricing.
The Court recorded the tabling motions rather than approving immediate expenditures, leaving procurement and contract selection pending further legal review and competitive bids. No contract awards or purchases were authorized at the July 8 meeting.
