Parmer County approves jail maintenance contracts as sheriff reports 24 inmates; UTV purchase tabled

Sheriff Eric Geske told the Parmer County Commissioners Court on Oct. 28 that the county jail was housing 24 inmates, including 10 from neighboring Lamb County, and presented several maintenance and service agreements for the court's approval. The Court approved a two-year Tremco roof maintenance agreement for the courthouse and sheriff's office after the sheriff presented the company's annual service proposal.
The sheriff also presented a renewal agreement with Justice Benefits, Incorporated, which assists the Sheriff's Office with applying for the SCAAP reimbursement program; that renewal was approved. The sheriff presented four quotes for a UTV Side X Side and noted he had not yet spoken to Clint Hurst at the Kubota dealership in Friona, which the commissioners had previously asked be contacted to keep purchases inside the county when possible. Commissioner Kenny White moved to table the UTV purchase for later consideration; the Court approved tabling the item.
The Court approved a jail door maintenance contract with Valhalla Security Solutions after the previous technician retired and a new vendor provided a bid. Commissioner Kirk Frye made the motion to approve the Valhalla bid, Commissioner Kenny White seconded, and the motion passed by majority vote. The Court adjourned at 11:20 a.m.
