Bedford County Salary Board approves wage correction and a slate of hires and longevity increases

The Bedford County Salary Board met Nov. 12, 2024, and approved a correction to an employee’s hourly wage and a slate of hires and wage adjustments recommended by department heads.
Treasurer Melissa Cottle moved to amend Sharon Keel’s hourly wage to $23.56 (correcting an earlier incorrect listing of $23.45), retroactive to the Oct. 8, 2024 meeting; Commissioner JR Winck seconded the motion, which the board approved. The correction was presented as an amendment to the payroll record and recorded as approved by the board.
Following that action, Commissioner JR Winck moved — and Cottle seconded — approval of wages and hires, per union contracts or department recommendations, covering multiple positions. The board approved the motion. Personnel actions recorded in the minutes include the hiring or wage-step appointments and effective dates as follows: Charles Reeves, full-time corrections officer, BCCF, $16.75/hr effective 11/04/24; David Murphy, FT corrections officer, BCCF, $16.50/hr effective 10/15/24; John Dively, FT corrections officer, BCCF, $16.50/hr effective 10/15/24; Paul McVicker, FT corrections officer, BCCF, $16.50/hr effective 10/21/24; Brittany Price, secretary, Probation, $14.75/hr effective 10/28/24; Alyssa Ronk, Caseworker II, Children and Youth Services (CYS), $17.85/hr effective 11/04/24; Peter Graybash, FT corrections officer, BCCF, $16.50/hr effective 11/04/24; Molly Reeder, Caseworker II, CYS, $17.85/hr effective 11/25/24; Jennifer Yeager, FT corrections officer, BCCF, $16.50/hr effective 11/12/24; Dennie Henderson, Security Officer, Emergency Management Systems, $16.21/hr (longevity increase) effective 11/13/24; Bonnie Brallier, Clerk Typist II, MDJ office, $15.10/hr (longevity increase) effective 11/18/24; Tracey Snyder, Assistant Director of Finance, Finance, $27.82/hr (longevity increase) effective 11/18/24; Jay Imler, Lieutenant, BCCF, $21.59/hr (longevity increase) effective 11/19/24; Jacob Wike, Sheriff’s Deputy, Sheriff’s Office, $17.51/hr (per union) effective 11/12/24; and Brian Seifer, Sheriff’s Deputy, Sheriff’s Office, $16.00/hr (per union) effective 11/18/24.
The board’s minutes note that the motion to approve the slate of wages and appointments was based on department head recommendations and union contracts, and that the motions were approved by the board. No vote tallies were included in the minutes. The meeting was adjourned at 10:22 a.m.; the next meeting is scheduled for Dec. 10, 2024, unless called sooner by the Board of Commissioners.
