Salary board approves wages and 22 hires across Bedford County departments

Among the approvals, the board appointed Lindsay Gillen as Court Reporter in Court Administration at an annual salary of $57,000 effective Feb. 20, 2024, and hired Lisa Wakefield as a Clerk Typist I in the Register/Recorder’s office at $10.30 per hour (per union contract), effective Feb. 20, 2024. The board approved a part-time hire, David Burgos, as a correctional officer at Bedford County Correctional Facility (BCCF) at $17.50 per hour (per union contract), effective Feb. 12, 2024, and several additional correctional officer hires at training or contracted rates with specified training-completion dates in mid- to late-February 2024.
The board also approved Christy Hatrick as Caseworker I in Children and Youth Services at $16.9950 per hour, and Catey Cain as a part-time telecommunicator in the 911 Center at $15.81 per hour, each with the effective dates listed in the record. Multiple other correctional officer hires were approved with hourly rates ranging roughly from $16.50 to $19.04 and various training-completion dates noted in the minutes.
The motion to approve wages and appointments passed as recorded in the minutes; no roll-call vote totals were included in the record. The meeting adjourned at 10:40 a.m.; the next meeting is scheduled for April 9, 2024, unless called sooner by the Board of Commissioners.
