At its June 11 meeting the Bedford County Board of Commissioners approved personnel and policy actions including a Sick Leave Donation Policy for non-union employees, a policy governing distribution of retirement refunds for non-vested terminated employees, and a slate of hires, transfers and separations submitted by department heads.
Human Resources Director Joy Lepako recommended the Sick Leave Donation Policy, which the board approved effective June 11, 2024. The board also approved a policy regarding the distribution of retirement refunds for non-vested terminated employees; that policy had been reviewed and unanimously passed by the Bedford County Retirement Board on June 6, 2024.
The minutes list 13 new hires (including Jeffrey Gable as Director of Elections and multiple correctional officers), several transfers such as Debra Brown moving to Chief Clerk with the Commissioners, and a set of separations. The board also approved entering into an internship agreement with Frostburg State University based on county recommendation.
Separately, the board adopted a resolution endorsing AMERICA250PA and establishing an AMERICA250PA Bedford County Commission to be chaired by Larry D. Smith to coordinate local semiquincentennial activities. All motions were recorded as approved in the meeting minutes.
