Commission reappoints tax assessors, names county manager to regional commission and delays several agenda items
Summary
At its Oct. 1 meeting the board unanimously reappointed Jim Wiehe and Ken Vanhorn to the Board of Tax Assessors, appointed County Manager Thomas Weaver to the Two Rivers Regional Commission, and tabled several items — including use of Old City Hall by the school board, election-policy second reading and cemetery bylaws — for later consideration.

The Cusseta–Chattahoochee County commission at its Oct. 1 meeting unanimously reappointed two members of the Board of Tax Assessors and approved an appointment to a regional commission while tabling several other agenda items for further review.
Commissioners voted to reappoint James (Jim) Wiehe to Post 5 on the Board of Tax Assessors (motion by Commissioner Hoyte, seconded by Commissioner Frost; unanimous) and to reappoint Ken Vanhorn to the Board of Tax Assessors (motion by Commissioner Douglas, seconded by Commissioner Hoyte; unanimous). The board recorded the corresponding resolutions during the meeting.
The commission also approved a resolution appointing County Manager Thomas Weaver to represent Cusseta–Chattahoochee County on the Two Rivers Regional Commission for a term expiring Dec. 31, 2025 (motion by Commissioner Douglas, seconded by Commissioner Hoyte; unanimous).
Several items were tabled for later consideration: a request from the Board of Education to use the Old City Hall building was tabled to the Nov. meeting (motion by Commissioner Frost, seconded by Commissioner Douglas; unanimous); a proposed cardboard compactor at the recycle center was tabled until the next work session (motion by Commissioner Frost, seconded by Commissioner Hoyte; unanimous); the Board of Elections policy ordinance was tabled pending a second public reading at a work session (motion by Commissioner Frost, seconded by Commissioner Hoyte; unanimous); and cemetery bylaws were discussed with County Attorney Bin Minter and tabled for follow-up with the cemetery committee (motion by Commissioner Hoyte, seconded by Commissioner Frost; unanimous).
The commission recorded formal resolutions for the tax-assessor reappointments and the Two Rivers appointment in the meeting packet.
