Commissioners reappoint Dean Crabtree as county solicitor; note on outside counsel for litigation

At the Jan. 13 meeting, the Bedford County commissioners reappointed Attorney Dean Crabtree as county solicitor for another one-year term on the commissioners' recommendation. Commissioner Baughman moved the reappointment and Commissioner Winck seconded; the motion was approved.
Commissioner Winck addressed concerns about using a firm based in Pittsburgh and explained the county's division of legal work: "Attorney Crabtree prefers issues only regarding contracts and/or election issues, he does not like to do any type of litigation or contract bargaining with the unions, labor issues throughout the year or Right to Know issues. That is why Campbell and Durrant is used from Pittsburgh," Winck said.
