Soddy-Daisy approves two rezoning ordinances and amends personnel policy on health insurance

The Soddy-Daisy Board unanimously approved two rezoning ordinances on Dec. 1 that convert two tracts on Old Dayton Pike to R-3 (apartment-townhouse) zoning.
2022–2023 Ordinance No. 5 rezoned 6529 Old Dayton Pike from R-1 (single-family) to R-3. City Attorney Elliott noted the required public hearing was held at the prior meeting; the motion (first, Commissioner Shipley; second, Commissioner Penney) passed unanimously.
2022–2023 Ordinance No. 6 rezoned 6545 Old Dayton Pike from A-1 (agricultural) to R-3. The ordinance was approved on second and final reading with a motion by Commissioner Shipley, seconded by Commissioner Keith, and an unanimous vote.
Separately, the commission adopted 2022–2023 Resolution No. 4 to revise the city’s personnel policy by amending Section VI, subsection P (medical and dental insurance). City Manager Johnson said the change removes a fixed percentage paid by the city so the employer contribution can be set annually without requiring a commission meeting. The resolution was approved unanimously (1st Penney, 2nd Shipley).
All three measures were approved without recorded dissent. Where a public hearing was required, the record reflects it was held at the prior meeting, City Attorney Elliott said.
