Soddy‑Daisy commissioners discuss wrecker policy, parks staffing and recognize volunteers

Keith requested a workshop to review city policies and a meeting with the Kids Club to formalize roles. Commissioner Coleman asked that a dumpster be placed at the city’s north end to help Keep Soddy‑Daisy Beautiful efforts.
In recognitions, Mayor Everett presented Cathy Loftis with a Life Saving Award after describing how she entered a burning Oakwood Drive house and helped three adults and two children escape on Feb. 5. Everett also presented a Certificate of Achievement to Seth Green, Troop 20, for constructing a flag retirement pit at Veterans Park as an Eagle Scout project. Mayor Everett praised City Manager Johnson’s networking at a recent TML Conference and said more parks staffing will be needed as the city grows; he noted a $1.2 million home is under construction in the city.
The board did not take formal policy action at the meeting but asked staff and the city attorney to research the wrecker policy and to schedule the requested workshops.
