Keep Soddy-Daisy Beautiful reports hundreds of tires and bags of trash removed in recent cleanups

During Citizen's Participation on April 20, Nate Sanden, representing Keep Soddy-Daisy Beautiful and living at 10773 Loop Road, updated the board on recent volunteer cleanups that removed about 150 tires and 40 bags of trash from Hotwater Road and an additional roughly 150 tires and 91 bags from the Sequoyah/Lovell Road area.
Sanden thanked Vice-Mayor Coleman and Commissioner Keith for their participation and noted Soddy-Daisy High School students helped tidy the Lovell Road area. He said the community Cleanup Challenge was on Day 4 and that Earth Day volunteers had signed up in many teams.
Mayor Everett said he would meet with Judge Lasley, Police Chief Sneed and City Manager Johnson to discuss how court-ordered community service might be coordinated with city liability concerns; City Attorney Elliott said the city should check with its insurance carrier before using certain community-service assignments.
The board thanked Keep Soddy-Daisy Beautiful for volunteer efforts and noted county and other agency partners are scheduled to help in upcoming right-of-way cleanups.
