Harper Woods Board unanimously approves tuition resolution, school‑choice enrollment and 2026–27 meeting calendar

The Harper Woods Board of Education voted unanimously Nov. 18 to approve routine business including a 2026–27 tuition resolution, Second Semester School of Choice enrollment and next year’s board meeting calendar.

The board first accepted the agenda and then approved a consent agenda that included minutes of prior meetings, the October expenditure report and personnel matters. The consent agenda motion — moved by Johnetta Tabron and supported by Stacey White — passed 7-0.

Under the consent agenda the board approved overnight and extended travel requests and a list of new hires. Travel approvals recorded in the minutes include Superintendent Steven McGhee’s attendance at the NABSE 53rd Annual Conference in Chicago (Dec. 9–15, 2025); attendance by trustees to the Advocacy Institute in Washington, D.C. (Feb. 1–3, 2026); and a staff trip to the Michigan Music Education Conference in Grand Rapids (Jan. 21–24, 2026). The consent agenda listed Patreese Givens for the Harper Woods High META Lab (hair braiding) among new hires.

On action items, the board approved Second Semester School of Choice enrollment (motion moved by Reginald Tabron, supported by Stacey White) and adopted the 2026–27 tuition resolution (motion moved by Johnetta Tabron, supported by Diana Nimmons). The board also approved the 2026–27 Board Meeting calendar (motion moved by Diana Nimmons, supported by Johnetta Tabron). Each motion is recorded as passing 7-0 in the minutes.
