Commission approves IDA reappointments, DOT roundabout grant and 4‑H funding; tables budget amendments

At its regular meeting on Aug. 6, the Commission of the Unified Government of Cusseta–Chattahoochee County approved a number of routine appointments and funding items and recorded one notable abstention.
The commission reappointed Walter Miller and Linda Beck to the Industrial Development Authority for terms running through June 30, 2029; the resolutions are recorded in the minutes. The board also approved a DOT roundabout relocation grant and renewed Four H funding; minutes show those motions passed unanimously.
A motion to table proposed budget amendments was recorded; the motion was made and seconded by Commissioner Jason Frost and the vote was unanimous. A conditional use permit (CUP) matter listed as "Hoyte CUP" for 110 Stagecoach Road was tabled to Dec. 3, 2024, or until judgment is reached; Commissioner Damon Hoyte abstained from that vote because of his connection to the matter.
The board voted unanimously to enter executive session at 6:47 p.m. to discuss personnel and legal matters; the meeting reconvened at 7:15 p.m. Chairman Charles Coffey stated that the closed‑session topics fell within legal exceptions and that no votes were taken while in executive session.
Next procedural steps in the minutes include a called meeting for millage‑rate action and the Sept. 3 regular meeting agenda, where remaining adoption items were to be considered.
