County approves dock, storage, dog‑pound and paving actions and declares two properties surplus

At its Oct. 7 meeting the commission unanimously authorized bidding for two roads, awarded multiple construction contracts (dock, storage slab and building, City Hall work, dog‑pound expansion), declared two buildings surplus, and reappointed Rob Marion to the RVRC.
Cusseta‑Chattahoochee County commissioners on Oct. 7 approved a slate of procurement and capital works measures, voting unanimously on motions to put paving projects out to bid, accept bids and award multiple construction contracts, declare surplus property, and reappoint a regional representative.
The commission authorized advertising bids for resurfacing of Riverbend Road and Liberty Hill Road (motion by Commissioner Timothy Biddle; second by Commissioner Jason Frost). Commissioners then approved the only bid for the Riverbend fishing dock and awarded that contract to Wahoo Dock. The storage building project at 215 McNaughton Street received approval for the concrete slab from Chattahoochee Concrete and the building package from North Carolina Carports. Work to finish the remaining third of City Hall’s renovation was awarded to Chattahoochee Concrete as the lower bid.
The board also approved expansion of kennel runs at the Cusseta Dog Pound: concrete to Rock Solid Construction, fencing to United Fencing, and the building to McGuire Buildings. Commissioners declared two county‑owned buildings surplus — a property on King Street and the old fire station on Fire Tower Road — and directed staff to attempt to preserve the existing slab at the old fire station for potential reuse.
Commissioners unanimously reappointed Rob Marion to the River Valley Regional Commission for a two‑year term beginning Oct. 7, 2025.
Chairman Charles Coffey noted the RVRC’s work on broadband and BEAD grants and mentioned community events coming in November; Coffey suggested the county pursue a press release to clarify recent reporting about the court of appeals opinions affecting county litigation.
All procurement and award motions recorded in the minutes carried by unanimous votes of commissioners present.
