Chattahoochee County commissioners unanimously approved selecting engineering firms for two grant efforts and accepted a regional planning‑support contract during January meetings.
On Jan. 6 the board approved Barge Design as the engineer for the county's sewer grant application and approved EMC to serve as engineer for the SCRC SEID 2025 grant. The decisions followed a staff-led review of proposals and RFQ evaluation criteria noting differences in preliminary‑engineering fees and percentage engineering fees for construction (Moon Meeks quoted a $6,000 preliminary fee and 17% construction fee; EMC quoted 9% and no preliminary fee in the administrative notes).
Commissioners also approved a planning and zoning technical assistance agreement with the River Valley Regional Commission at an annual fee of $6,000 to provide ordinance and subdivision regulation support, staff reports, meeting attendance and map maintenance. The contract term was stated as July 1, 2025–June 30, 2026, with automatic renewal unless 30 days' written notice is given.
Commissioners discussed evaluation criteria and were advised to form a small local review committee to document scoring and reasons for the selected firm in meeting minutes to satisfy state procurement guidance for EDA/SEID grants.
