Commissioners ratify routine hires, approve energy audit feasibility study and audit extension

UNIONTOWN, Pa. — The Fayette County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 13 moved through routine agenda items including personnel ratifications, an energy audit feasibility study, vendor approvals and audit contract actions.
Personnel: Acting Chief Clerk and HR Director Cristi Spiker presented human-resources items. Commissioners voted to place on the agenda the ratification of hires for Taylor Brookings and Tonya Harmon as County Caseworker 1 positions, effective Jan. 5, 2026; the ratification of the resignation of Aaron Trincia effective Jan. 2, 2026; the ratification of Misty Adams to a FACT position effective Jan. 12, 2026; and the ratification of Nicholas Clark as Chief Public Defender effective Dec. 19, 2025.
Energy and accessibility: The board authorized McClure Company to perform a feasibility study as part of a Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Contract to identify potential energy upgrades at the Gallatin Building at no cost to the county. Commissioners also ratified a professional-services proposal from Ford Office Technologies for ADA site compliance setup at an annual billing rate of $2,128.57.
Audit work: The board voted to extend audit services with Zelenkofske Axelrod LLC for fiscal year 2025 at a cost of $80,000 for the county and $15,000 for FACT (noting a stated 11% decrease from 2024 fees) and then voted to reject all proposals received in response to RFP 25-01 to procure auditing services.
Votes and next steps: All motions were placed on the agenda by Commissioner Henry Kaufman, seconded by Commissioner Vince Vicites, and passed unanimously. The McClure feasibility work proceeds with no cost or obligation to the county pending legal review; Ford Office Technologies' annual rate will be billed at $2,128.57 per year.
