Eureka County approves $100,000 donation to Elko Child Advocacy Center and several local grants

Elko County District Attorney Tyler Ingram sought a fiscal-year 2025 contribution for the regional Elko Child Advocacy Center, noting the center has served about 35 children and families and now offers medical examinations and a Spanish-speaking advocate. Commissioner Marty Plaskett moved to approve a $100,000 donation for FY2025; the motion passed unanimously.
The board also approved a donation of up to $37,787.16 to Perdiz Sport Shooting to fund electrical upgrades, shooting-station improvements and event costs for the Nevada State Sporting Clays Championship. Range Manager Jerry White said the site needs a 400-amp service to power new equipment; the board agreed to cost-sharing with Mt. Wheeler Power and other local entities.
Juvenile Probation Officer Steve Zimmerman requested support for Grad Night; the commissioners approved a $1,000 county donation to support a safe, sober senior event.
In a separate land-use action, the board approved a boundary-line adjustment in which Mt. Wheeler Power returned a nuisance parcel to adjoining owners Ray and Janine Hubbard; the motion passed 3-0.
