Kittitas County commissioners approve consent agenda, authorize BEAD broadband applications

The board approved Resolution No. 2025-133 authorizing applications to the Washington State Broadband Office under the Broadband Equity Access Deployment (BEAD) Round 3 program for seven project areas in the county, with total requests described in the record as up to $60,000. The resolution directs staff to pursue the specified project-area applications and to submit materials to the state office.
Also included in the consent agenda were acknowledgments and authorizations for interagency agreements and program amendments: a U.S. Forest Service agreement for $41,960 to support law enforcement on national forest lands; an amendment to the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission contract adding $15,000 for an officer wellness program; and agreements with the Department of Ecology for local solid-waste financial assistance and a Community-Led Air Quality Improvement project.
The board set a public hearing for surplus equipment disposal under RCW 36.34.080 and scheduled a separate public hearing for the proposed 2026–2031 Capital Improvement Plan, both to be held August 5, 2025 in the Commissioners Auditorium. The board also approved an addendum to a lease for KITTCOM at Bowers Field Airport and a deed transfer of development rights conservation easement from Blue Jay Land Company to the county.
