Snowflake council adopts residential overlay, approves permits and variances; OKs new public-works trucks

Ordinance 2025-02, which establishes a residential reserve overlay prohibiting manufactured homes for a portion of West Gardens, was read once by title and approved (motion by Byron Lewis, second by Mark Sheen). Council minutes record no public opposition to the ordinance during the meeting.
The council also approved a special-use permit for watchman’s quarters at 1328 W. Rutledge for applicant Dustin Pawlik (motion by Cory Johnson, second by Greg Brimhall); a variance to allow placement of a single-wide manufactured home at 7926 El Rancho Trail for the Allen property, with the council citing the parcel’s large acreage and prior county/town misinformation as context for the exception (motion by Mark Sheen, second by Byron Lewis); and a variance to allow construction of an accessory structure before construction of a primary residence at parcel 202-31-001G for Brian Brimhall (motion by Cory Johnson, second by Travis Kay). The council also approved a special-use permit and variance for a secondary dwelling and guest suite at 551 N. 7th E for parcel owner Troy Flake (motion by Mark Sheen, second by Cory Johnson).
In capital purchases, Town staff presented replacements for aging fleet vehicles; the council approved buying two new trucks and reallocating two existing vehicles to the golf course (motion by Reid Stinnett, second by Joe Bjornn). Motions on the consent agenda — including February 4 council minutes, February 18 worksession minutes and the February check register — were also approved unanimously (motion by Reid Stinnett, second by Cory Johnson).
All motions recorded in the meeting minutes passed unanimously; the council adjourned at 8:07 p.m.
