Councilmember Byron Lewis and other councilmembers discussed a planned change in the town’s legal representation at the April 1 worksession. Councilmembers acknowledged that Brian Richards should inform the current attorney about his plan to move to a different firm that would represent the town on council and legal matters.
Brian Richards described the matter as primarily a professional-courtesy conversation he would undertake with current counsel; the council offered input but did not record a motion or take a vote. "Council thinks Brian should discuss, as a professional courtesy, with the current legal representation his plans to want to move to a firm that is willing and able to represent the town on council and legal matters," the minutes record.
The worksession minutes show no further action or deadline on the issue. The matter will proceed informally unless the council later places a formal agenda item for decision.
