The Board of Lincoln County Commissioners approved a partial vacation of 3rd West Street between Blocks 5 and 6 in the Auburn Townsite at their Aug. 2 meeting, contingent on survey work and the recording of an amended plat and deeds. Commissioner Hansen moved the measure and the motion was adopted.
County Engineer Amy Butler told the board the proposal had been published in the official newspaper for three consecutive weeks and adjacent landowners had been notified. Petitioner Audra Thornton addressed the board and thanked commissioners for hearing the matter again; Robert Davis (via Zoom) spoke in support.
Under the motion the petitioner, Audra Thornton, is responsible for the cost of survey work and any documentation required by the County Clerk’s office. The commission recorded the motion as part of the consent agenda; no objections were recorded during the hearing.
Next steps: survey work must be completed and the amended plat and deeds recorded with the County Clerk before the vacation is finalized.
