Armstrong County commissioners adopt hazard mitigation plan, approve 2026 schedules and routine transactions

The Armstrong County Board of Commissioners met on Jan. 5, 2026, and unanimously approved a slate of routine actions, including adoption of the county hazard mitigation plan and the 2026 meeting schedules. The meeting began at 11:00 a.m. in the Commissioners' Conference Room and adjourned at 11:06 a.m.
Commissioner Anthony G. Shea moved to approve the minutes from the Dec. 18, 2025 meeting and to acknowledge purchase orders for the week of Dec. 23, 2025 totaling $9,791.33; Commissioner Pat Fabian seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. The board also acknowledged the county's financial transactions for December 2025 by unanimous vote.
Based on a recommendation from Chief Clerk Karen M. Notto, the board approved personnel transactions listed for Jan. 6, 2026. The actions passed on a motion by Commissioner Shea, seconded by Commissioner Fabian, carried unanimously.
Emergency Preparedness Coordinator Becky Waugaman recommended adoption of Resolution #2025-36, the Armstrong County Hazard Mitigation Plan. On a motion by Commissioner Shea, seconded by Commissioner Fabian, the board adopted the resolution unanimously.
The board also approved the 2026 calendar for county meetings: Commissioners’ public meetings will be held the first and third Thursday of each month at 9:00 a.m.; Salary Board meetings will be held monthly on the third Thursday at 10:00 a.m.; Prison Board meetings will occur the second Thursday of each month at 8:30 a.m. in the Armstrong County Jail Conference Room; and Retirement Board meetings will be held quarterly on the dates the board recorded (March 11, July 8, Sept. 9 and Dec. 9, 2026), each beginning at 10:30 a.m.
On the recommendation of Jail Warden Jessica Hicks, the board approved the 2026 SAVIN (Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification) Maintenance and Service Agreement. No further details of the contract were recorded in the minutes.
There were no public comments, announcements or other business recorded. The next Board of Commissioners meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
