Mercer County to issue RFP for county engineer, appoints commissioner to public health board and approves revenue reports

At the Dec. 18 meeting the Mercer County Commission moved several administrative actions: it authorized placing an RFP for a County Engineer, appointed Commissioner Jamee Folk to the Western Plains Public Health Board, approved the Sheriff’s and Recorder’s November revenue reports and heard a year-end presentation from the NDSU Extension agent.
Commissioner Jamee Folk moved to put out an RFP for a County Engineer; Commissioner Casey Voigt seconded and the motion carried. The auditor will prepare the RFP and forward it to the States Attorney for advisement at the Jan. 2, 2025 meeting. Commissioner Rick Bauman moved to appoint Commissioner Folk to the Western Plains Public Health Board; Voigt seconded and the appointment passed unanimously.
The commission approved the Sheriff’s reported November revenues of $43,152.71 (motion by Bauman, seconded by Pierce) and the Recorder’s November revenues of $6,850.00 (motion by Folk, seconded by Voigt). NDSU Extension Agent Craig Askim delivered a year-end report and asked about the extension office lease renewal; the commission requested a list of all county office leases and associated costs before deciding on the extension lease.
Chairman Gene Wolf also said he is reviewing county per diem rates versus IRS rates; the minutes record a brief discussion of the sheriff’s budget but no formal budget changes were made. The meeting adjourned at 11:55 a.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Jan. 2, 2025.
