State Homeland Security Program: The Council accepted a 2024 State Homeland Security Program grant totaling $102,877.02 (performance period Sept. 1, 2024–May 31, 2027) to fund specified homeland security projects with no local match. The minutes list project allocations as: Cambridge Police Department Drone Program — $31,000; Community Preparedness/Public Outreach — $2,877.02; Dorchester Election Security — $3,000; UPS Replacement for Communications — $46,000; and Dorchester County Sheriff's Office Computer Equipment — $20,000. The acceptance passed 4-0, Councilman Detmer moved and Councilman Kramer seconded.
Transit operating grant: The Council approved acceptance of a FY25 Operating Grant Agreement of $795,261 from the Maryland Transit Administration to support Delmarva Community Services' Delmarva Community Transit operating expenses (project period July 1, 2024–June 30, 2025). The grant requires a local match of $116,732, to be funded by the FY25 Operating Budget ($115,000) and the Non-Profit Fund ($1,732). Andrea Waters, Transportation Grants Specialist for Delmarva Community Services, presented the request; the Council approved it 4-0.
Courthouse security funding: The Council approved submission of a $10,000 grant application to the Administrative Office of the Courts (performance period July 1, 2024–June 30, 2026) to purchase additional key fob access and monitors for the Circuit Court. The request was presented on behalf of Judge William H. Jones; the Council voted 4-0 to submit the application.
