Mercer County Commission approves zoning change, permits and $182,936.52 in bills

The Mercer County Commission on May 7 approved a zoning application to allow a nonfarm residence for Allan and Shana Gerving, renewed a temporary asphalt plant permit for Bechtold Paving and authorized a series of agreements and permits while approving vendor payments totaling $182,936.52.
Tax Director Jen Neumiller presented Zoning Case #25-04-01 to allow a nonfarm residence in the E½, NE¼ of Section 16, Township 146 North, Range 87 W. Commissioner Jamee Folk moved to approve the zoning case; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously.
Neumiller also presented a renewal application for Temporary Use Permit #655 for Bechtold Paving’s temporary asphalt plant; Folk moved to approve the renewal and the board voted in favor.
Donovan & Kaffar, PLLP attorney Jennifer Gooss reviewed the scope of a Planning & Zoning Ordinance re‑write and recommended revisions to the draft scope of work. The commission did not take final action on the ordinance rewrite at this meeting; the review and attorney recommendations were entered into the record for further drafting.
Tom Weigel of Moore Engineering presented an agreement that had been reviewed by the States Attorney; Commissioner Folk moved to approve the agreement and the motion passed. Commissioner Rick Bauman presented three utility permits for a bore project for Roughrider Electric and WRT (permits #1768, #1769 and #1770); the permits had been approved by the highway superintendent and the board approved them as presented.
The board approved March recorder revenues of $5,033.20, granted a Dakota Waters Resort liquor license application and authorized Hazen Golf Course as a gaming site. Later in the meeting the commission reviewed and approved bills for payment, with the minutes listing vendor payments totaling $182,936.52.
The meeting minutes list all motions as having carried with unanimous votes. The commission also recorded portfolio updates before adjourning at 11:17 a.m.
