Several informational items and non‑controversial requests were addressed by the Dubois County Council.
4‑H Swine Barn: Scott Schnell reported Pfaff Construction completed the 4‑H Swine Barn at a total cost of $107,052 and provided an in‑kind donation instead of a change order. He asked to use the remaining appropriation of $17,948 for drainage and other improvements; the council agreed.
Security Center generator annunciator: 911 Director Stuart Wilson said the annunciator panel that monitors the generator is in an unoccupied mechanical room on the jail side and could report to an empty room during an event, affecting ISO ratings. Wilson presented a Weyer Electric relocation quote of approximately $5,300; the council tabled the request to seek alternative monitoring options and more information.
Courthouse monuments and audit: Auditor Morton reported donations accepted by Jasper American Legion Post 147 for the 2024 POW‑MIA monument will be transferred to the county for long‑term maintenance; she and County Attorney Greg Schnarr will amend Resolution 2021‑39 to include both the Soldiers & Sailors and POW‑MIA monuments. Morton also said the State Board of Accounts is conducting the 2024 audit and expects completion in June 2025.
Other updates: President Kluesner reported the Solid Waste Management District purchased two trucks and may use remaining funds for accessories; he also provided a brief Courthouse HVAC temperature control update and said council members will soon discuss 2026 budget directions and scheduling.
