Board declines to pursue county ordinance on grass clippings; sheriff enforcement preferred by commissioners

The Board of Commissioners reopened a prior discussion about motorists’ safety risks from grass clippings and hazardous materials blown onto public roadways. Commissioner Nick Hostetter said he preferred the Sheriff's Department enforce current state law and argued a county ordinance was unnecessary. Resident Russ Friedman attended to support a county ordinance, but the board lacked sufficient support and decided not to adopt an ordinance.
Commissioner Chad A. Blessinger encouraged the public to remove clippings from the roadway after mowing. The minutes record that, due to lack of support from the board, no county ordinance will be established at this time.
