Dubois County approves 2025 paving contracts, adopts road preservation quote and records highway engineer resignation

The Dubois County Board of Commissioners on April 21 approved a contract with Calcar Paving, Inc. for the county’s CCMG 2025-01 paving projects and moved to accept a sole-source quote of $186,595.20 from Rejuv Tech, Inc. for rejuvenation and preservation work on multiple roads, pending funding approval by the County Council.
Highway Engineer Brent Wendholt presented the contract and quotes. The board voted unanimously to approve the Calcar contract and to approve the Rejuv Tech quote contingent on County Council funding. Commissioners also approved additional appropriations for the Highway and Local Road & Street funds, including $10,000 to MVH Unrestricted, $90,000 to MVH Restricted (Bituminous), $810,000 to Paving, and multiple allocations for Local Road & Street (stone $70,000; bituminous $200,000; paving $200,000).
Wendholt submitted his resignation effective May 2, 2025; he thanked colleagues and was publicly thanked for his service. The board recorded the resignation but did not announce a replacement or timeline for filling the position.
The approvals on paving work and preservation keep previously used contractors and products in place: the board noted the Rejuv Tech product is the same used in prior projects and stated the provider is a sole source for that product. Pending County Council funding action, planning and procurement will proceed.
Next steps: the Rejuv Tech work is pending appropriation at the County Council level; no effective dates for the paving schedule were specified at the meeting.
