Dubois County names low bidder for courthouse HVAC, to advertise $260,000 appropriation

President Michael W. Kluesner reported that proposals for a courthouse HVAC temperature control system were reviewed and scored by a small committee and that Messmer Mechanical was the chosen vendor and lowest bidder at $257,236. Council members said some proposal items may have been overlooked in initial estimates. The Board agreed to proceed with the project pending funding approval and reached consensus to advertise an additional appropriation of $260,000 from the LIT‑ED fund to cover the work.
Kluesner also reported on a possible upgrade to courthouse security cameras and related software. He and Commissioner Chad Blessinger are working with Astro Security to determine the scope of needed upgrades.
No formal appropriation vote for the HVAC project was recorded at the Jan. 21 meeting; the Council directed staff to advertise the additional appropriation and return with funding details for approval.
